Ted Gauthier - Owner and Chief Pilot, Flyballoons.net
Ted has more than 2500 hours logged flying hot air balloons and has been flying balloons for 30 years. He has competed in a number of championships throughout the United States as well as in Japan, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Canada and continues to regularly compete. For a number of years he was the Federal Aviation Administration’s designated examiner in Michigan, serving as the final step for students earning their pilot’s license. Ted is a retired Fire Marshal from the West Bloomfield Fire Department and is currently Bloomfield Village Fire Chief. He is also a paramedic and registered nurse.

Joey Gauthier - Commercial Pilot
Joey is Ted’s brother and has been flying hot air balloons for more than 25 years. He is actively involved in the Southeastern Michigan Balloon Association and has served on the Board of Directors for several years.

Marty Gauthier - Commercial Pilot
The youngest of the Gauthier brothers but has proven himself as one of the top balloon pilots in Michigan. Winning the Jackson, Michigan Hot Air Balloon Jubilee and logging more than 1500 hours of Lighter-than-air Flight time. |

Shawn Raya - Commercial Pilot
A second generation pilot, grew up in hot air ballooning. His father was the chief pilot for Father and Son Construction. |

Dawn McKenzie - Commercial Pilot
Dawn is Ted’s daughter and is the only female pilot in the family and was the first of the second generation to obtain her pilot’s license. Dawn has had her license for 14 years, and grew up crewing for her dad serving as his crew chief at national competitions around the country. She regularly competes in competitions around the country and won the Flag City Balloon Fest in Findlay, Ohio in 2010. She served on the Board of Directors for the Southeastern Michigan Balloon Association and was honored with the President’s Award for her involvement and dedication to the local balloon club, which serves approximately 180 members.
